Sandra Rojo Picón is a Spanish artist whose work beautifully fuses her background in fashion design with her passion for painting. Artistic Statement
Sandra’s fashion education plays a fundamental role in shaping her visual language, allowing her to analyze and capture essential traits that define her subjects’ character and context. A recurring theme in her work is the light and skies of Madrid, expressed through studies of clouds in varied textures and tones, creating a distinctive style she calls “Dreamlike Pop”.
Her practice seeks to create accessible, heartfelt art that connects with people’s everyday lives, painting from a place of honesty and emotional resonance.
"My aim is to fill rooms with beauty. A beauty with depth, so it will last.
I'd like to think of my work as conceptual but communicated in a universal language that everyone understands. It's like a dream in which I take you by the hand to all my favorite and most unusual places and share them with you so you can love them as much as I do.
Sometimes a back is enough to tell a story. That distance interests me: the precise point where identity becomes universal and the intimate becomes shared. I paint figures that seem foreign and yet return something familiar to us, an echo of our own childhood, an emotion we thought we had forgotten.
I'm not interested in the portrait itself, but in what lies beyond it: the suggestion, the pause, the desire to know more. The garments, the colors, the light… are clues to a silent narrative, where each element speaks without saying everything.
I want beauty to be the gateway. That the work attracts you before you understand why, and that by staying a little longer, you discover that it is also looking at you."
