VILLAZAN is delighted to present Doodle Frenzy, a major solo exhibition by internationally acclaimed artist Mr Doodle, opening on November 13, 2025 and on view through January 17, 2026, at the gallery’s Madrid space. This special exhibition invites the Spanish public to immerse themselves in the artist’s distinctive and fantastical universe.

Mr Doodle has held exhibitions at internationally renowned museums, including The Holburne Museum in Bath, United Kingdom, and chi K11 Art Museum in Wuhan, China. His work has also been featured at major international art fairs, including Art Basel Hong Kong and Art Basel Miami Beach, where his large-scale, immersive installations have attracted widespread attention and critical acclaim.

The exhibition will feature a curated selection of original canvases and graphic works, marking a subtle yet significant shift in the artist’s creative practice. Moving away from his iconic clean linework, Mr Doodle explores untamed, loose and expresive layered spray techniques that define his new visual aesthetic. The works on view, created over the last three years and shown for the first time, reveal an artist who dares to abandon control to rediscover the primal joy of drawing, transforming chaos into method and spontaneity into form.

In Doodle Frenzy, Mr Doodle’s universe overflows with movement and colour, inviting viewers to step into a living surface through immersive compositions that blur the boundaries between painting and environment.

Reflecting on this new body of work, the artist explains:
“My son grabs the nearest pen he can find and draws without hesitation, he paints a small spiral shape and says Daddy it’s a fish. I’m inspired by his instinct and urgency to make marks and for this exhibition I wanted to enjoy that same freedom a child enjoys when they make art.
Putting fun above everything.
I’m so proud of what I made, I think it could be my favourite series yet, but more importantly I found the process extremely enjoyable.”

The exhibition is curated by Pilar Giró, a distinguished curator associated with the Espai Carmen Thyssen. Known for her elegant and conceptually rigorous approach, Giró has curated major exhibitions such as VINCLES. Cuixart in Conversation with the Carmen Thyssen Collection, bridging classical and contemporary perspectives with a refined curatorial vision.

Doodle Frenzy offers visitors not only the playful energy that has made Mr Doodle a global phenomenon, but also a more introspective and poetic dimension of his artistic evolution.

In addition, this exhibition is part of an audiovisual project that seeks to document the narrative transformation of the work from the studio to its presentation in the gallery. A documentary, with executive production led by Francisco Cordero, will accompany the exhibition, offering an in-depth look at the artistic process and the context of this presentation in Madrid, further underscoring the exceptional nature of this event.

VILLAZAN tiene el placer de presentar Doodle Frenzy, una gran exposición individual del artista internacionalmente reconocido Mr Doodle, que se inaugurará el 13 de noviembre de 2025 y permanecerá abierta hasta el 17 de enero de 2026, en la sede madrileña de la galería. Esta exposición especial invita al público español a sumergirse en el universo distintivo y fantástico del artista.

Mr Doodle ha realizado exposiciones en museos de renombre internacional, como The Holburne Museum en Bath, Reino Unido, y chi K11 Art Museum en Wuhan, China. Su trabajo también ha sido presentado en importantes ferias internacionales de arte, como Art Basel Hong Kong y Art Basel Miami Beach, donde sus instalaciones inmersivas de gran escala han atraído una atención generalizada y el reconocimiento de la crítica.

La exposición presentará una selección curada de lienzos originales y obras gráficas, marcando un cambio sutil pero significativo en la práctica creativa del artista. Alejándose de su característico trazo limpio, Mr Doodle explora técnicas de aerosol libres, sueltas y expresivas, que definen su nueva estética visual. Las obras expuestas, creadas durante los últimos tres años y mostradas por primera vez, revelan a un artista que se atreve a abandonar el control para redescubrir la alegría primitiva del dibujo, transformando el caos en método y la espontaneidad en forma.

En Doodle Frenzy, el universo de Mr Doodle desborda movimiento y color, invitando al espectador a adentrarse en una superficie viva mediante composiciones inmersivas que difuminan los límites entre la pintura y el entorno.

Reflexionando sobre este nuevo cuerpo de trabajo, el artista explica:

“Mi hijo agarra el primer bolígrafo que encuentra y dibuja sin dudar; pinta una pequeña forma en espiral y dice: ‘Papá, es un pez’. Me inspira su instinto y su urgencia por hacer marcas, y para esta exposición quise disfrutar de esa misma libertad que un niño siente cuando crea arte. 
Poner la diversión por encima de todo. 
Estoy muy orgulloso de lo que hice; creo que podría ser mi serie favorita hasta ahora, pero lo más importante es que encontré el proceso extremadamente placentero.”

La exposición está comisariada por Pilar Giró, una destacada curadora asociada al Espai Carmen Thyssen. Reconocida por su enfoque elegante y conceptualmente riguroso, Giró ha comisariado importantes exposiciones como VINCLES. Cuixart en conversación con la Colección Carmen Thyssen, conectando perspectivas clásicas y contemporáneas con una refinada visión curatorial.

Doodle Frenzy ofrece a los visitantes no solo la energía lúdica que ha convertido a Mr Doodle en un fenómeno global, sino también una dimensión más introspectiva y poética de su evolución artística.

Además, esta exposición se enmarca dentro de un proyecto audiovisual que busca documentar el proceso de transformación narrativa de la obra del taller/estudio a la presentación en la galería. Un documental, cuya producción ejecutiva está a cargo de Francisco Cordero, acompañará la muestra, ofreciendo una mirada en profundidad al proceso artístico y al contexto de esta presentación en Madrid, y reforzando así el carácter excepcional del evento.
