In February and March 2023 VILLAZAN will have the pleasure of featuring Argentine artist Franco Fasoli, also known as Jaz, in its space. Fasoli was born into a family of artists of all branches in Buenos Aires, and in fact, it was in his grandmother's studio where he began to draw. Years later his interest expanded to ceramics and graffiti, whose technique was reminiscent of jazz music and hence the nickname. As it could be seen, the main source of inspiration for his work is Latin American history, a diversity of millenary cultures traversed by colonialism, independence and the construction of modern states. In fact felines are very recurrent in his pieces as a metaphor of repression.

Today we will talk about a magnificent project he published in 2019, his book “Public/Private. 10 years of the career of the artist Franco Fasoli”. The title honors the artist's way of working and his two existing perspectives: the first half in the street and the second half in his own studio. The artist himself explains: "The book is divided into two parts. One part tells about my work done in the street and the other about what I have done in the studio, in institutions or in galleries. That's why the book is designed in parallel, by two people. And that's why one part bears my first name and the other my pseudonym".

Público/Privado unveils the ten-year career of artist Franco Fasoli, and features collaborations with Elian Chali, artist and curator in charge of the foreword to Público; Diana Aisember, artist and educator who writes the foreword to Privado; and curator Belen Coluccio, who appears throughout the book writing different texts.
