The artist Socko reminds us of the key to life through his character Dough.
Paula Latiegui

Little Dough is the protagonist of the next solo show "One Step Ahead" by the artist Socko at VLAB.

If there is one thing that the works of the South Korean artist Socko have in common, it is those characters with coloured hair that are in themselves so close and strange to the viewer's eyes. Specifically, we are talking about "Dough", the protagonist who represents the fear and hope that the artist felt when he moved to Los Angeles at the age of 16.

Dough walking on clouds; Dough in a small plane that flies with the birds and on which he makes new friends like a rabbit or a flamingo; Dough discovering a fantasy world with his companions; Dough falling in love in the form of Cupid... All those sensations that, although they don't look like that from the outside, are felt in this way when one begins a new stage. And that is precisely the purpose of our little friend, so that we can all identify with him.

Socko reminds us through its protagonist that life is not about reaching the finish line but about enjoying the journey

Reliving these sensations and adding to it the nostalgia that relates it to the cartoons and toys of the 90s, Socko reminds us through its protagonist that life is not about reaching the finish line but about enjoying the journey. To do so by mixing the delicacy indicated by its pastel colours with the freedom and a hint of rebelliousness of those bright colours. Combining them in the right way we find the perfect key to how to live.

From 2 to 25 February everyone who visits VLab will be able to accompany Dough on his journey and relive a deeper understanding of the different principles he has experienced throughout his life.
